Viking History Is Coming…

by admin on July 23, 2011

It comes with great pride that I’m able to share everything I’ve learned about Viking History in one place with you now.

As a first generation Swede I have Viking heritage and have always been fascinated by the viking culture.  In fact I’m “this close” to getting a Viking Dragon Cross tattooed on my arm.  When the vikings invaded Ireland those that were converted to Christianity were buried with this type of celtic  cross that had dragons on it.

You’d also find dragons on the longships now that I think about it.  The point is this blog is going to take a look at art, weapons, ships and culture of these feared warriors.

As you probably know the Vikings raided, traded, explored and settled in lands all across the globe from the late 8th century to the mid 11th century.  We’re going to have some fun digging into some of these conquests and seeing what we discover.    Also known as the Norse these Scandanavians hailed from Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Iceland.

Okay lets test your Viking knowledge.  Did they really have horns on their helmet?  What where they doing when they weren’t trading or raiding?   These are just a few of the questions I plan on shedding some light on.  It’s true I’m a nerd when it comes to this subject matter and I hope that you join me for it’s going to be a wild ride.
